“The fact that we are having a panel like this, that we have permission to be on a stage like this, is because of women who went before and our elders in this space who have created opportunity and opened doors.”

TRANSFORMING TALENT: THE MENTORS THAT SHAPE US

Presented by the Clean Energy Council Women in Renewables program, the afternoon featured a panel of women in different stages of their clean energy careers reflecting on the power and importance of mentor relationships.

The panel session, chaired by Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia (WELA)’s Victoria McKenzie-McHarg was followed by a dedicated networking opportunity for mentors and mentees to connect.

Thanks to the luncheon partner, KPMG.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

In the spirit of celebrating the invaluable impact mentoring has on career development and our industry – you can only be what you see – artist in residence Bianca Tuckwell has curated, directed and produced a short film and a supporting immersive art installation for the luncheon.
Having lived and worked in the UK for more than 15 years, Bianca undertook her BA Hons (First Class) in Photography in rural Surrey in 2013, and has been capturing space, place, people (and dogs) ever since.

The Women in Renewables short film project invited participants to share their experience as a mentor or mentee (or both) and will highlight impact by directing attention to points of inflection and change.

Bianca also aims to shift the focus on how we view who can be included when we say ‘people in the industry’, thus elevating both the conversation and equal opportunities for all.
